GREAT

The top students from last Fall's Apollo's GREAT classes are posted. We were able to recognize both Top grads and Runner-ups. We also had a GREAT families program after school in the Spring of '08. Those of us who attended enjoyed pizza, important information and sharing on how to apply the GREAT life skills in our families. Fall ' 08 classes are off to a strong start. Abanoub Ghattas nailed down an awesome School Improvement Project on WEEK ONE!!! He graciously offered to and has already set up an Apollo GREAT Web page and has agreed to be the webmaster funneling photos of ongoing student projects for Apollo. This is a first and is made even more extraordinary by the fact that he is sadly leaving Apollo on 9/5 and transferring to Oliver on 9/8 and YES, he has already set up a web page for Oliver MS. Abanoub is undeniably THE MAN!!!

Project topics are being chosen this week and there are many excellent proposals involving charity fundraisers, tutoring and work around the Apollo campus. We are partnering with "Hands on Nashville" and their point man Councilman Duane Dominy for an joint School Improvement Day on Saturday Sept. 27th from 8AM-12 noon. Students must fill out a permission slip with their parent/guardian to sign up and must be accompanied and supervised by an adult for the event. This will count as their School Improvement Project but can also be done in addition to another individual or small group (3) project. The projects will be due in November so pace yourself to finish on top.
