NCLB Information

The No Child Left Behind Act  was signed into law on January 2, 2002. The legislation is based on four principles: stronger accountability, increased flexibilty and local control, expanded options for parents, and emphasis on teaching methods that have been proven successful. NCLB requires local school districts to allow all eligible students enrolled in a Title I funded school that has failed to make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for two consecutive years an opportunity to transfer to another school that has not been identified for school improvement.

You have the right to request information about the professional qualifications of your child’s classroom teachers and any paraprofessionals providing support to your child.
